The solar panels generate electricity from the sunlight in 4 different steps. It starts with the panels absorbing solar energy, which activates the PV cells to generate direct current (DC). The inverter at the back of the solar panel converts the unusable DC current into the usable alternating current (AC) that flows through cables and wires and reaches the meter. A Solar panel is typically a panel that absorbs solar energy and uses it as a source of energy to generate electricity. They are basically made up of solar cells or the photovoltaic cells that are arranged as a photovoltaic array making up the photovoltaic system. The photovoltaic modules contain millions of silicon cells which act as an active conductor by absorbing the sunlight and converting it into electricity. In the presence of light, these silicon cells get activated and their electrons are set into motion which creates a series of flowing electric currents, also known as the photovoltaic effect.
The whole set of the photovoltaic system comes in a metal frame with a glass casing which protects the photovoltaic modules along with the required wiring that aides in the current flow. The glass is tempered and tested to be viable even during extreme climatic conditions. An insulating sheet protects the solar panel from humidity and heat dissipation, as extreme heat can reduce its efficiency, which, in turn, lowers the production of electricity. The final electricity generated from the inverter can be used for several reasons including residential, commercial purposes, etc.
The Photovoltaic (PV) process is all about converting the energy from sunlight into green electricity to power different appliances at home and for other commercial purposes. The whole photovoltaic process starts with the emission of photons from the sunlight, which when strikes the photovoltaic modules will activate the electrons of the semiconducting material, usually silicon that is present on the photovoltaic cells. This activation creates an imbalance and generates electricity. Higher the intensity of light more is the generated electricity and vice versa.
These PV cells generate clean and green electricity that is renewable. The most important point about using photovoltaic process is that the abundant solar energy is put to the right use for generating renewable electricity without emitting carbon dioxide, thereby, reducing atmospheric pollution levels. Also, since this AC powers the appliances and electrical, there is a considerable decrease in the utility bill amount.
